Teesdale was a fierce competitor with the Greenwood brothers for the newly emergent wealthy Gergian market for county wall maps and this beautiful map of Cheshire is an archetypal example of this competition. Taken from a bespoke survey by Swire and Hutchings, the detail is incomparable for the time, with the smallest settlements duly recorded. Of great interest is the network of canals present in the county and ominously, a small stretch of "intended railway" between the banks of the River Mersey and Helsby.
