As usual, Blaeu bases the geographical detail of the map on John Speed's county map of 1611. However, the style and sophistication of the engraving is very different. In addition, reflecting Blaeu's more international market, there are additions of Latin translations to several of the major regions and titles on the map, such "Part of Norfolke" is also "Nordfolciae Pars". Finally, as with most of Blaeu's maps, this example has been illuminated with beautiful original colour.
