There is an interesting historical annotation on this map. It is very small, north of Hurstwood Road and east of Hendon. It states "Bombs Sep 8/15". This is a reference to an infamous Zeppelin bombing raid on London on September 7/8th 1915 which led a great deal of property damage calculated at half a million pounds and resulted in 22 casualties. The area marked on the map was one of several sites which suffered.
